“Fight Like A Girl”, my new album, featuring music from my upcoming “The Asylum FWVG” Broadway musical, will be in your furry claws on July 24th.
You know what I’ve found more irritating than anything in the past years since the release of “Opheliac”? And no, I’m not referring to the lack of washing machines available to us on tour. Nay. I’m talking about the miraculous number of interviews I’ve done in which the journalist ignorantly asks me, “Why has it taken you so long to release this new album?” I’ve had no choice but to answer the same thing every time, which bores me to tears, that being of course that I’ve not exactly been lazy, but have instead been a bit busy writing, recording, and releasing two all-violin albums (both of which have at least as much merit as anything I’ve done vocally), three album-length EPs, performing countless shows around the globe, designing and building sets and costumes for all of them, making a movie, and writing and publishing a five-pound autobiographical novel. And that’s just the junk you know about…the personal stuff, well…that’s something else…everybody thinks that my actual obliteration attempt and subsequent incarceration within the maximum security psych ward occurred before “Opheliac” was written and released, and I’ve let them think it, preferring not to comment, because it doesn’t matter, and I don’t like to go into the details of the wheres and whens. But it wasn’t before “Opheliac.” It was after.
Now! That being said, fuck it, let’s party like it’s 1845, because “FIGHT LIKE A GIRL” is almost here at last!!! There will be “Tea” Parties in several countries, one in particular hosted by me, details soon to come;), a glorious video for the title track shot by dear friend and artistDarren Bousman, and so much more.
Plague Rats, this album was written for you. It was written for your participation. It was written to be performed live, with you and I in the same room together. It is our soundtrack. It is our story. Help me tell this story to those who have yet to join the Asylum Army. Sing with me. Sing with me…
And lastly, because I cannot contain my pure joy and excitement at all of this, I am now going to share with you the lyrics to the last song to be added to the album, a song which those of you who have read the Asylum book will understand well… (and yes, there is a hidden treat in there, look for it below, you clever Muffins…)
Confusion writhes around our hearts impatiently It drains the faith that lights the dark and sets us free From the chains of our war and the pain we once called love The poison of doubt enslaves our minds and we bleed We abandon the trust that kept us blind and disappear Under the crimson wings of hate where the lost are safe Until they love again The heart of darkness is hope of finding you there And that hope will be our love’s requiem We pray to the serpent of delight desperately The questions are answered and we try not to weep Until we are sure we’re suffering for love In the dungeon of our dreams we’re so weak The promise made to be broken still haunts our sleep We won’t open our eyes afraid we would die for love again
The heart of darkness is hope of finding you there And that hope will be our love’s requiem The salvation we seek will be waiting us there In the heart of darkness lonely and scared With a promise of death for our love
And now that we’re free from the chains of our dear love I’m lost, so lost
The heart of darkness is hope of finding you there And that hope will be our love’s requiem Take me into your arms and sing me your beautiful song Hold me until we’re one and sing me you’re beautiful song The heart of darkness is hope of finding you there And that hope will be our love’s requiem Take me into your arms and sing me your beautiful song Hold me until we’re one and sing me you’re beautiful song…
